Regulatory Affairs Coordinator

Position Description: The Orbeli Institute of Physiology is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to provide administrate support to Ethics and Compliance Committee (ECC) and its sub-committees established within the framework of the ERA Chair Project funded by the European Union. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) ensure compliance with ethical standards, safety protocols and regulatory requirement governing research activities within our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the ECC, IACUC, IBC, and IRB committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting minutes
  • Coordinate communications and correspondence among committee members, researchers, regulatory agencies and invited external consultants
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records related to protocol submissions, review process, inspection and monitoring reports
  • Facilitate the review and processing of research protocols and amendments, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory guidelines
  • Assist Principal Investigators in preparing and submitting protocol applications, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Monitor deadlines and facilitate timely completion of administrative tasks related to committee reviews and approvals
  • Collaborate with researcher personnel and relevant administrative staff to ensure adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in organizing and keeping records of training and educational activities related to regulatory compliance
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to research ethics and regulatory affairs
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure smooth functioning of committee operations.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information and communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical area (Biology, Bioethics, Life Sciences, Public Health or a related field) is preferred
  • Proven experience in administrative support roles, preferably within a research/academic, public health, or regulatory environment
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ethical considerations related to animal research, biosafety, and human subjects research is desirable
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Strong attention to details and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Armenian languages
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the ability to:
    • Design, format and edit documents, create graphics, tables and presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
    • Assist colleagues with online protocol submission process, including navigating submission platform and troubleshooting simple issues as needed.
