Policy: Research Misconduct


The L.A. Orbeli Institute of Physiology is committed to nurturing a research environment that upholds the principles of integrity and ethical conduct. The Institute aims to research misconduct while fostering a culture of responsible research.

Research misconduct, as defined in this policy, means activities such as the fabrication or falsification of data, research procedures, or data analysis; the intentional destruction of data for fraudulent purposes; plagiarism; breach of confidentiality; or any other fraudulent actions related to the proposal, execution, review, or reporting of research findings. It is critical to differentiate between research misconduct and honest errors or interpretational ambiguities inherent in the scientific process, which are typically rectified through further research.

This policy along with administrative procedures, is applicable to all individuals engaged in research activities under the auspices of the Institute, including employees and collaborators.

The Institute expects research integrity from its employees at all times and in all circumstances. Any actions constituting research misconduct are unacceptable.

In cases where allegations or evidence of research misconduct arise, the Institute is committed to promptly addressing them and conducting thorough investigations to ensure the integrity of research activities.

The Institute is dedicated to complying with all relevant regulations outlined by funding agency and/or applicable regulations of the Republic of Armenia.
