Armenpress published the continuation of an interview with Naira Ayvazyan, the Director of the L.A. Orbeli Institute of Physiology, who provided further details about the on-going activities. She shared that the Institute is working on a project aimed at introducing hyperspectral imaging in surgery to help doctors better visualize affected areas, making their actions more precise.
Hyperspectral imaging is already used abroad for certain procedures and is currently in the testing phase in Armenia. The laboratory, led by Professor Narine Sarvazyan from the George Washington University Medical School, is conducting experiments to develop this technique for use in specific surgical procedures, such as laparoscopic interventions, where precise visualization is crucial. The Institute has also acquired advanced equipment, which enables more detailed tissue analysis. These developments could significantly enhance the quality of medical care in Armenia.
