Mission

Biomedical Imaging Organization for South East Europe or BIO-SEE, for short was formed in the Spring of 2022 with the help of a grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) to address the need for a regional network of biomedical researchers interested in advanced imaging techniques. The four main goals of BIO-SEE are:

  • To share the expertise, methods, and protocols that facilitate the use of both individual and shared bioimaging equipment
  • To facilitate collaborations between BIO-SEE members, particularly those driven by junior investigators
  • To connect BIO-SEE researchers to the global biomedical imaging community.
  • To develop educational activities aimed at raising the next generation of young scientists interested in bioimaging equipment and applications

Currently, BIO-SEE Society activities are supported by the ERA Chair grant as part of its ABREC (Armenia’s Biovisualization Research Excellence Core) initiative. BIO-SEE members can enjoy free-of-charge individual and group TRAININGS. After completion of each training, participants can be granted access to ABREC-supported imaging equipment on a collaborative basis. Requests with a short description of the desired training(s) or collaborative studies have to be sent to Էլ․Հասցե։ [email protected].

Training for each modality takes approximately 6 hours. The first 2-3 hours will be spent learning one-on-one with the instructor, while the following hours will be an opportunity to practice what students have just learned on their own, but with instructor help readily available. By the end of training sessions students should be able to acquire data on the own and show basic understanding of the imaging modality. Once students have completed their training they can be given access to the equipment and schedule time to image their own samples.
