From the Laboratory to the Clinic
The Armenian Institute of Physiology, part of the National Academy of Sciences, has made significant
progress in biomedical research, particularly in the field of bioimaging. The institute completed a project
funded by the Chen Zuckerberg Initiative, which focused on creating a network of biomedical
researchers across former Soviet Union states, emphasizing advanced imaging techniques. This
innovation has positioned the institute as a leader in bioimaging within Armenia.

The International Conference “Solving Nature’s Mysteries Using Advanced Bioimaging Approaches” was jointly organized by ERA Chair project funded by the European Union and the BIO-SEE initiative funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Professor Narine Sarvazyan, head of the Horizon Europe ERA Chair project of the L. A. Orbeli Institute of Physiology, was awarded the State Award of the Republic of Armenia – the Medal of Gratitude
Era Chair Project kickoff event
NAR-SAR-IPH KICKOFF event took place on October 16th bringing together over 80 professionals from different institutions.
ERA Chair Holder, Prof. Narine Sarvazyan opened the event. Welcome speeches were given by Prof. Naira Ayvazyan, IPH Director and Project Coordinator, Prof. Rouben Aroutiounian, Academician-Secretary of the Division of the Natural Sciences of NAS RA and Mr. David Avakian, International Cooperation Officer, EU Delegation to Armenia.
