ANIMAL CARE AND USE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Animal Care and Use basic training and Occupational Health and Safety training (estimated time 2,5 hours) are mandatory for completion by all staff dealing with animals or conducting animal research.
Reading of information materials on Euthanasia is mandatory for all involved into this procedure.
Principal Investigators and Heads of Laboratories working in animal research, additionally should complete ETPLAS modules 10, 11, 12, 52 mandatory, E25 optional (estimated time for mandatory modules – 21 hours). Mandatory reading of information materials on Euthanasia

ETPLAS - EDUCATION & TRAINING PLATFORM FOR LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE

https://learn.etplas.eu/

While Education and Training (E & T) under Directive 2010/63/EU is the responsibility of the Member States, harmonisation and mutual recognition of training programs are important assets for pan-European scientific exchange and mobility of personnel. For this reason, ETPLAS was established as an information portal to enable information sharing and communication between training providers, approval/accrediting bodies, employers and EU Member-State authorities.Following modules of e-learning courses on EU-functions defined by Directive 2010/63/U are hosted on ETPLAS website and free to enroll:

  • EU10 – Design of procedures and projects – Level 1
  • EU11 – Design of procedures and projects – Level 2
  • EU12 – The severity assessment framework
  • EU25 – Project evaluation
  • EU52 – Searching for (existing) non-animal alternatives
  • EU60 – Developing in vitro methods and approaches for scientific and regulatory use

Additionally, the course Systematic Review of Animal Studies can be accessed and free!
